Hello all. I'll just tell you a little bit about myself and give you a few quick hints for using the forum.  I was born in Puerto RIco, grew up in California, went to school in Florida and have worked all up and down the East Coast.  My father got me started sailing and a few years later I got the bug.  I'm looking to buy a boat one day and for now I'm totally cool with chartering or just hitching a ride with others who like to sail.

I've been using the forum for a couple of years and it's easy to use so please give this a shot.  You can always find help with the functions in the forum.  But basically, it goes like this.  The site moderators create Categories and Topics and sub topics.  These are the general categories and we need to refine them.  I just put these out to get us going.  As a group we can refine the topics to what we think works for us.

You create a New Topic and people should reply to discuss.  You can Edit your reply, or Delete your reply.  THe buttons to create topics and replies are along the top of the Category Topic.

You saw the agreement and I think it pretty much says what we all want on the site.

I look for to happy discussions with everybody.

Wow, this is great! Thanks gatorback! I guess I'll tell you all a little about myself, too. I grew up in California, but learned to sail in Berlin at the age of 14. By 18 I was racing with my dad. I'm now 51 and over the past 15 years, I've lived in Galveston/Houston. My dad had a Thistle and we sailed around in Galveston Bay. Later we leased a yacht and sailed from Galveston to Corpus Christi and back. That was several years ago and since then, I've been playing around in the surf with a Sunfish. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I think we can do a lot with this, Tom.  Thanks sooo much.  Good job!  Maybe we can use the Rainbow over sailboats photo ... I can resend it to you without the txt on it.  ...and the Rainbow Sail emblem ... maybe you can do somrthing with that, too ? ......

Do we have a 'new' member already?  Welcome waverunner.  (or were you in our initial group?)

Hello, Everyone!!

I am Marlborotwist.

I love the sea!
My home town, Shimonoseki, is a fisherman city in Japan.
I miss the smell of the sea.

I haven't gone out on the sea probably for more than 5 years.
I should stop the record by this coming summer!

Anyways, nice to see you all!

Hi,

I live in Germany, but grew up in Florida.  I LOVE the water.  All water.  I miss the salt water, the fresh water, even the chlorine water.  All I have is a kiddie pool!  I have been sailing with friends, but have never done any on my own.  Maybe one day I can check that box.  I joined the site to be social and because my friend made me Grin.
I look forward to good chats and even better sailing stories!
Bon Voyage for now,
CrustyZ

Hello everyone! Jeff here... I'm actually relocating to Boston for a few months, but I'm looking forward to sailing and meeting people when I visit Tom in Houston at some point soon.

Hello Everyone,

I am glad I found your website.  Lets see I moved down here last June with my partner and we have a boat in the South shore Marina, although it is a powerboat (28 ft bayliner cierra) and not a sail boat, we look forward to meeting you. I have had the boat for almost four years now and just love the water.  This is my first experience with the salt water and large areas of water.  It has taken me a little time to get use to Galveston bay and clear lake area with the depth of both, I am use to deeper water.  But we look forward to meeting with you and get togethers.

Welcome to the forum.  Mabo (my partner) and I are going  sailing this weekend off Kemah channel.  We're getting started early Saturday.  We're on Miss Lilly which is a 22' MacGregor.  If you want to sail around a little with us that would be great!

Sorry I did not get back to you.  We ended up going out later in the afternoon around 4pm and headed to redfish island and anchored there and peopled watched for a few hours.  The fireworks were great on  Friday night, I highly recommend it, I guess it is every friday in June.

Mabo and I  sailed from 10 AM to 2 PM Saturday and it was great.  It was his first time and he loved it.  He said now he realizes why I like it so much.  He makes a fine helmsmen and we can't wait to get out again.  The next  big event for us I think is to get checked out on the 34' Hunter that is coming into charter service later this month.  Other then that, we'll  be out on one of the boats we have access to.

Hi everyone,

I'm Lou.  I have an older 23' Hunter sailboat and am a beginner sailor so welcome the opportunity to learn from more experienced sailors.

The boat is at Legend Point Marina (right next to Watergate).  I'll probably need to take it out next spring to have a bottom job done to it so if anyone has contacts, that would be great.

Let me know if there are any get-togethers.

Regards, Lou
